Plasma TV v/s LCD TV: Which is better?
Technology is no diet reaching to great heights now-a-days. Everyday various advance technical electronic products like DVD Players, Home Theaters, TVs etc, are coming up in the market. With so many advancements, there are several changes in television as well. Latest trend of televisions is LCD TVs and Plasma TVs.
These TVs are available with latest technical features and attractive designs. Therefore, potential buyers are little confused to choose better TV set between both Plasma and LCD TVs. Actually, both TVs are sound enough in their features and technology, yet they have their own merits and demerits. Buyers want to invest their money on most worthy and quality one.
Customers get confusion because of some common myth behind these TVs like:
1. Life span of Plasma TVs is small: Well! This myth is totally wrong because its manufacturer’s claims that half life span of this TV is up to 60.000 hours. That means if a person wants to reach at this figure then he/she have to watch TV for at least 8 hours in a day and 20 years regularly. So, this fact reveals that Plasma TVs remain longer as other TVs in market.
2. Large sizes are not available in LCD TVs: This is also not true because up to 52-65” LCD TVs are available in market.
3. Plasma TVs are not suitable to play video games: Some people say that images would burn into screen of Plasma TV while playing video games. This is also false statement for Plasma TVs.
4. Looks of Plasma are superior to LCDs: It is also not true. This depends on your selection and viewing environment. Some Plasma stands next to LCDs in their design while some are better. So, it is only depend on the choice of model.

For LCD:
These TVs has non-reflective screens. As LCD TVs has matte finishes, the possibilities of environmental reflection are very less. The brightness of picture of LCDs is also of very good quality. This feature of LCDs gives them advantage in room with good deal of the ambient light. In addition, LCDs have no images retention, no burn-in and this TV is ideal for the PC applications.
For Plasma:
These TVs have fantastic reproduction of colors. Plasma TVs are incredible in their contrast with the minimal crush. Due to its technical features, these TVs can produce numerous shades of colors especially of black. Thus, detail visibility of images can be view easily even in dark scenes.
One of the most important aspects that affect these TVs is their viewing environment. If you put your TV in wrong direction then you can view lots of reflection. Light used in the environment also put great impact on the picture view of these TVs.
So, it is quite difficult to answer which is better? If plasma is good in its display, LCDs are also catching popularity for its picture quality. If you feel visual bliss with Plasma, then you can also feel the magic of color, contract and brightness with LCDs. Thus, you have both choices in your hand. First thing to keep in mind before going for any of them is you’re environment. You should also know little about primary use of display.
