Gold sculpture of model Kate Moss
A gold sculpture of model Kate Moss, entitled Siren, by artist Marc Quinn on display at the British Museum in London. The sculpture is part of an exhibition entitled Statuephillia at the British Museum. The sculpture weighs 50 kgs, is made of 18-carat gold and is worth an estimated 1.5 million British pounds. The artwork portrays the runway goddess in a bizarre yoga like pose, her torso sticking through her lotus shaped legs. Moss, however, is not the first one to be immortalized thus. There was Jeff Koons’ 1988 depiction of Michael Jackson and his pet monkey, Bubble. More recently, there was Daniel Edwards’ sculpture of a naked Britney Spears giving birth on a bearskin rug, titled, Monument to Pro-Life: The Birth of Sean Preston (2006). Edward was also the mastermind behind Suri Cruise’s First Poop.
